Want to know whether your trailing arm mounts are rusted? Both the upper and lower trailing arm mounts are located in the area in front of the rear tire. In order to reach the fastening hardware for the upper trailing arm, the factory put an access hole in the frame. Because of the access hole, an area for large quantities of dirt, mud, road salt, and moisture was introduced and allows the debris to enter the frame. Because no coinciding drain holes were installed, all of the debris collects and begins to rust from the inside out. Because the upper trailing arm mount is located on the inside of the frame rail, its very difficult to see the corrosive process until its too late. Fortunately, Auto Rust has added a large drain hole to prevent this problem from repeating in the future.
