Fender Flares & Accessories

Fenders are the part of your Jeep that frames the wheel well. The fender functions to protect the car from having road debris, such as sand, rocks, liquids, or mud thrown up into the air by the tire’s rotation. Fenders on Jeeps are made of very rigid materials and can be damaged if they come into contact with road surfaces, or off-road obstacles. Many long-time Jeep diehards swear by the use of mud flaps to offer that additional layer of protection to protect against the contact that is possible.

When you take your Jeep off-road suddenly fenders become very important to you, if they weren’t before. Your first time off-road will quickly enlighten you on the wisdom (or lack thereof) of keeping flimsy bumpers, addons that dangle, and substandard parts. Fenders have to be protected, as well.

If you are going to go off-road often, then invest in some fender flares. These protect your fenders from debris, boulders, outcroppings you didn’t see, and trees that are too low for your line of sight. The Smittybilt Steel Fender Flares can take a beating and keep your fender riding easy over all sorts of terrain. You can get them as flare kits, bolt on flares for the corner guards, flux fenders, or as a gauged rear tube. The tube flares are particularly useful because they tend to push your Jeep out of harm’s way when sliding over an obstacle. However, they are the devil if you plan to go mudding because the muck collects in the tubes. Bushwhaker fender flares are not only extremely functional but they add another layer of style and design. This is a flat style of fender flare, and can be purchased in styles called cut-outs, and pockets. Most come as a black matte, or textured black color, and can add up to five more inches of protection to your tires.
