...Scrutiny with the spy photos indicates the hood also uses traditional Jeep external hold downs. Just like past Wranglers, from the CJs and military Jeeps, on up to today.
The tips and information on the new 2018 JL Wrangler Jeep are coming through fast and furious. Speculation, rumor, guess work, spy shots - every tidbit of information is being looked at closely by Jeep fans everywhere.
Some recent spy photographers have caught a JL with the hood up. From the images, it appears that the Jeep uses similar “military” style hinges that have been used for decades, on up to the JK. Meaning, you can flip the hood all the way up vertically (even lean it against the windshield it seems) for easy access to the engine.
A good guess is that hinges for the doors are probably staying very similar (or "old school") to what the JK has - easy to use, upgrade, and might allow you to still remove the doors.
Scrutiny with the spy photos indicates the hood also uses traditional Jeep external hold downs. Just like past Wranglers, from the CJs and military Jeeps, on up to today. It looks like Jeeps are keeping some of the basic and simple ideas that make a Jeep ideal for trailing with, and easy to upgrade and modify.
Supposedly the new JL will make its full visual debut at the LA Auto Show. So we might have to wait till then to get the whole scoop. But it’s sure fun trying to figure out the Jeep puzzle before then, isn't it?
