2018 Wrangler Will Have Manual Transmission Option

Everyone who was worried can rest easy now. Motor Authority reports that the Wrangler will keep its 6-speed manual gearbox. There were rumors that the manual option would no longer be available due to its declining demand. Recent pictures show a 6-speed gearbox with the reverse gear up and to the left as opposed to down and to the right. This means that the current gear box that's been in the Wrangler for 11 years now may be replaced. These manuals are usually special orders at dealerships because the automatic 5-speed transmissions are so popular. There is a lot of time between now and the release of the Wrangler in 2018 so we can't be sure what will happen. We know there are talks about a 4 cylinder 2.0 liter turbo engine to be offered alongside the existing 3.6 liter V-6 engine. But the big one a lot of us are hoping for is the 3.0 liter V-6 EcoDiesel engine already sold outside of the US. What do you think of the manual transmission still going strong? Tell us in the comments!
