SEMA - The Event of the Year
Just a reminder that SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association)
will, be finishing up their event November 4, 2016. For car and truck enthusiasts, this is always THE event of the year. Manufacturers and vendors from around the world attend, and if you have nitro running through your veins and a brain full of gears, you know this event is all about you. SEMA itself began way back in the early 1960s. Back then the performance market for car parts was just starting to take off, especially in drag racing. However, other types of racing, including off-road, added to the broad range of products that people saw in the early years. For the average car guy/gal, you may not know all the things that SEMA does for even regular folks who are car and truck minded. While the aftermarket accessories are still a big part of the organization, a large part of their work is keeping an eye on local and federal regulations that affect drivers. They cooperate with multiple car and truck agencies that collaborate with the government to make sure that vehicle owners and hobbyists can keep enjoying their vehicles. For off-roaders and Jeep folks, these include the Light Truck Accessory Alliance (LTAA) and the Wheel & Tire Council (WTC), among many others. Many times it takes changes in current laws, or progress with future regulations that effect vehicles, which allows drivers to continue to modify their vehicles. Who do you think represents and speaks for you as a car or truck owner? SEMA and their associations do. All year long they do this, and you probably don’t even know it. Sadly, the SEMA event is not open to the public. However, you can bet that if any 4x4 or Jeep news escapes the show, we will be posting for you. Many of the accessory and Jeep parts companies
we carry will be there. So if you see some Jeep stuff, or you are hanging out at the Jeep booth, let us know! We would love to see what you are checking out.
