Veterans Day Honoring All Who Served
Veteran's Day is a the perfect day to recognize our heroes and service men and women who keep us all safe in the USA. This is their day, from World War I on up to the troops fighting overseas in the Middle East. Their sacrifice and strength is part of what makes America the great country we all enjoy with our families and friends. This is the special day the nation gets to simply say,"Thanks!", and show their support for our troops and veterans, wherever they are. It's a reminder that we must not, indeed, we WILL NOT, forget our sons and daughters, husbands and wives, Fathers and Mothers, who gave all in the service of their country. Protecting you and I. For those who may not know, Veteran's Day was a day to commemorate Armistice Day, This day was proclaimed by President Wilson in 1919 (soon after World War I). It is traditionally held the on November 11. An Act of Congress made it official for all states in 1926 as a national holiday. President Eisenhower (a Veteran himself) also issued the first "Veterans Day Proclamation" on October 8 in 1926. This push would make the holiday fall under the VA Administration. In 1958 the law was altered slightly for the VA. The date for Veterans day was actually moved away from from the original November 11 to October 25, to allow Federal Employees more weekend time off. However, in 1975, President Ford signed into law to have the date moved back to the November 11th date, Bringing the special American holiday back on course as a tradition to all Veterans. President Wilson's commemoration defines the day with these words, "To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country’s service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations." Here at Morris 4X4 Center, we support our veterans and the U.S. military. Not just this special day, but everyday with our Military Discount. It's important to us, and it's a way for us to help those who protected us with their service. We also have veterans working with us here at the Morris 4x4 Center, and we rely on their commitment and strength. We are fortunate to have them on our Team.
