The Wrangler Hybrid is Coming in 2020

The Jeep Wrangler is an icon of off-road prowess. And while the company is a pioneer in taking vehicles off-road, it has not been quick to develop vehicles in the electric/hybrid space. Off-road and trailing purists don’t mind that Jeep has been slow to come out with a new-wave vehicle, as they provide little power or torque in lieu of better fuel economy and low emissions.

There are no concrete details about the plug-in hybrid’s specifications, but it may emulate Chrysler’s hybrid Pacifica, which offers a full electric range of 33 miles, and 32 mg when you tap into the fuel reservoir. It’s a divisive topic for sure, with purists harboring outright disdain for the concept of hybrid Wranglers, and fans of the brand wanting to get a Wrangler but not willing to commit to a vehicle that guzzles gas.

Having moved fully into China recently, the brand has already developed drawings for a hybrid Jeep in the Chinese-only market. Times are changing, and it may be a good idea for Jeep to catch or even reclaim reign on its pioneer spirit with new tech, starting with alternative powertrains and engines.
