New Diesel Wrangler Finally Confirmed

A diesel? In a Wrangler Jeep? Right from the factory? In the US?!

Jeep has hinted at a diesel Wrangler for months, supposedly for the next generation Wrangler, the new 2018 JL Jeep (and possibly for the JL Pickup as well). It’s been touch and go as far as concrete information, but Jeep owners have been wanting a diesel option for some time. But now, the diesel Wrangler has been confirmed and is slated for release in the US in late 2019.

It's been talked about and written about just about everywhere, with the lead candidate being the EcoDiesel V6, a 3.0L engine. The FCA already uses the engine in some of their Ram 1500 Dodge trucks, and in a few Grand Cherokees. So, it's a high probability that is what they will use.

Recently, the JL Wrangler Forums have been talking lively about the new JL Wrangler, with some reported image shots, and some mentions of the diesel being an option. According to one forum’s administrators, the sources for the information have been “verified.”

We hope the news is all true, as we look forward to the diesel option. That bit of extra torque that diesel has will come in handy on the trails. We can barely wait to see what the new JL Jeep gets.
