The Warn VR 8S is a great mid-use winch. It’s commonly used by the average 4-wheel fan that occasionally winches their own vehicle, or maybe a friend’s now and then, out of a tight spot. But recently Warn went through the VR (1.0) line and upgraded them to be even better (the 2.0 line).

Eric and Corby from Warn go over some of the highlights that make the Warn VR 8S winch even better than before, and one of the best performance bargains out there for a winch.

The Warn VR 8S models are available in 8K, 10K and 12K capacity. They can run both steel cable and synthetic rope lines. It’s been revised visually, with a new and improved clutch handle for a better grip, a sleek center mounted solenoid box, and a hidden port for the remote. The new style port now has a rubber cap to seal it from the elements too..

The tie-plate across the top is stronger, and even features the Warn logo. They now use a steel cross fairlead for both steel cable and synthetic rope.

The Warn VR 8S has a 7-year electrical warranty and a lifetime mechanical warranty. By the way, Warn actually carries parts for their winches in case you needed to repair something (outside of a warranty situation). In fact, they still have parts for their winches all the way back to the 1970s (yes, we can get those parts for you here at Morris 4x4 Center)! The new VR 8S series also have new internal sealed contactors for better weather resistance. Warn has really dived in and made the improvements. Their goal is to keep their products up to date with modern technology and even better reliability. They know you rely on their winches to get you where you need to go - and out of where you don’t want to go!
