2016 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon in Review

If you're debating a 2016 Jeep Wrangler, you may want to bounce over to Mashable and check out their test drive of a new 2016 Jeep Wrangler JK Rubicon Unlimited. They actually take it off-road and do what Jeeps are meant to do, and I think they have a fair assessment of actually putting the Jeep to work. Getting around boulders, climbing steep rock faces, and just an all around good time.

Come to think about it, it's hard NOT to have a good time 4-wheeling a Wrangler. It's a Jeep thing right? As with most reviewers who don't actually live the "Jeep Life", it's a 50/50 thing on what the expectation are and what actually happens.  They mention it has a "stone-age chassis and suspension", but in fact, that's one of the things what makes the vehicle dependable. Sure, Jeep could go IRS, but I can just imagine the high warranty issues replacing those parts when they break (because they are weaker). Not to mention how much the price would go up on a new Jeep. They did seem confused on the simple attributes of a Wrangler. The "cloth" door straps. No rack and pinion. These are things that are used because when off road, when in the middle of nowhere, repairs are more viable. You can bend a center link or track bar back into place if you really need too, if it gets damaged, but who's going to disassemble a rack and pinion deep in the woods? Not likely. Their review doesn't compare the Jeep Rubicon to any specific vehicle, and without the comparison, it's hard to tell what they really expected, or wanted in an offroad vehicle. (a Landrover? Mercedes G-Series? Lamborghini LM002?). They seemed impressed with the 4x4 capability though, and rightfully so. That's what the vehicle is built for. Many of these types of reviews are similar when they're about a Jeep Wrangler. It's not a Lincoln. It doesn't ride like a Lincoln. It doesn't have comfy seats like a Lincoln. Etc. However, the review does mention one thing.  The thing that probably explains why more and more people like driving Jeep Wranglers..... because it's FUN!
