Apple CarPlay is coming to Chrysler's UConnect system updates. The news has come out of the annual CES (Consumers Electronic Show) event where automotive electronics and technology are becoming as important as the latest music players.
Chrysler adds Apple CarPlay to it's Updated UConnect System
A new feature to be incorporated into their system will be Apple CarPlay, as well as Android Auto. Chrysler hasn't given out any specifics yet regarding which models will get the new features, or what year they will become available (Ford had already announced a similar feature for their 2017 vehicles).
Apple CarPlay allows you to use your iPhone in a safer way while driving; working with your car's dash, you can use Siri voice commands to do tasks for you, such as get directions, maps for display, or check messages. Your phone essentially becomes part of the on-board system. Your dash (with a compatible system, like UConnect) can perform just about the same functions as your phone can, but now you can do it hands-free, or by touch.
Android Auto is a similar concept. Like Apple CarPlay, you can use your phone to interact and change the interface on UConnect, allowing you to do more tasks with a touch of your dash. Phone calls are handled by Bluetooth technology. If you don't want to wait for Chrysler to upgrade their UConnect, the Alpine iLX-007 that we carry is fully Apple CarPlay compatible, so you can take full advantage of the hands free experience now. As usual, we're way ahead of the curve here at Morris 4x4 Center.
