If someone was looking to get their first Jeep, especially a Wrangler, it’s a catch 22; either wait and save a bundle on the last year for the JK models, when dealers are discounting them to get them off the lots, or hold your cards and bet on the new JL Wrangler, or even the new pickup truck?
Jeep is just one division of the FCA’s many brands. But recently, sales dropped 11% for the Jeep brand in June, with an overall annual sales drop for the FCA at 7%. Being a global company, there’s too many variables to pin point an exact reason for the decline, but the numbers are out there for everyone to contemplate.
To us, it’s not all that surprising on the Jeep brand. They just redesigned the Renegade, and soon the 2018 JL Wrangler will be out, as well as a new JL pickup truck. There are more choices now, and with the new Jeeps appearing in late 2017/early 2018, we can see why Jeep owners would hold on to their older Jeeps for just a little bit longer.

The FCA sold 73,153 Jeeps in June alone. The Wrangler accounted for 18,839 of those sales. But the Grand Cherokees sales went up overall, and came in at 20,176 units for June over previous months.
On an annual basis, the Patriot plummeted down 55% in sales, while the new Renegade picked up a lethargic 2% in sales (sales will probably rise more in the coming months with the new body style).
The FCA also owns Dodge and Chrysler. The Dodge brand overall fell 14% for the year, while Chrysler was around 15%.
Overall, vehicles sales cycle up and down over the course of a year. For the long haul, we’re sure the Jeep brand can easily pull its own weight, and it’s been tugging at the other FCA brands for a while now. Jeep is probably the most important brand they have.
If Jeep owners are anticipating getting a new 2018 Jeep, then those buyers are going to save up and hold on to their cash. But those looking for a sweet deal might flood the dealerships during the end of year months to scoop up some of the best savings ever on the JK Wranglers still hanging around dealerships.
Or maybe Jeep owners just figured, "Hey, Morris 4x4 Center has all the parts I need to keep my old Jeep going. Why buy a new one?"
