A team put together by The Fast Lane Car (TFLcar) has reached the highest point in all 50 states. And they did it in a Wrangler. This has been the second huge voyage that the company has orchestrated, with the first encompassing a trip to the Czech Republic. Dubbed Motor Mountain USA, the epic journey began commenced in the spring of 2015 at the annual Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah.

Motor Mountain USA Reaches New Heights

Four dedicated TFLcar adventurers took turns driving 37,000 miles to the highest points in all 50 states, including Hawaii and Alaska. To get people involved with the event, commemorative belt buckles were created and hidden (geocached) to be found by the most dedicated adventurers who made it out to the highest locations after the team. Each state came with its own set of obstacles though. At times, the staffers had to check with local viewers and visitors to determine the highest point in a state reachable by a Jeep might be, because not every state department of transportation or forest service person had the information. Sometimes the highest point couldn’t be reached because of being on private property, or being closed during winter months. The best thing about the trip was discovering these places,” said Andere Smirnov, editor for TFLcar. Some fun facts about the trip:
  • The highest drivable point in Utah was just an hour’s drive from I-85
  • Florida has the lowest "highest point" at 360 feet above sea level (it’s a little dog park with a plaque noting that it is the highest point in the state)
  • There still plenty of buckles waiting to be found...
