USA Today reports that Jeeps lead the way in the cheapest vehicles to insure. With Jeeps fast becoming the modern SUV and small truck of the new age, it's no wonder that insurance companies are starting to notice, and have started giving Jeep owners a break.

Low Cost Insurance for Jeeps On the Rise

Depending on what state you live in (and their taxes, fees and other items attached to insurance), your costs can range from around $ 700 a year to say,  $ 2000 a year. With the average costs for Americans being around $ 1,134 annually. Obviously mini vans and SUVs make up the bulk of the list. One of the criteria for the list is insurance claims (not really science, I know). The Smart Car is on there, but there are so few of those cars on the road, I can see why insurance claims would be low. I wonder if the Jeep Wrangler is number one because most Wrangler owners would probably prefer to fix their own Jeep, rather than file a claim and have someone else do the work? It's hard to say either way. But if you're getting insurance for your Jeep, there must be some great rates out there, so keep an eye out for the deals! You are a preferred Customer! It does seem curious, though, considering some of the recurring safety issues in some Jeeps. The newspaper lists the top 10 vehicles (for 2015) , along with an annual dollar figure of its cost. The entire list includes:
  1. Jeep Wrangler Sport 4WD - $1,134
  2. Jeep Patriot Sport 2WD - $1,136
  3. Honda CR-V LX 4WD - $1,160
  4. Dodge Grand Caravan SE Plus - $1,162
  5. Honda Odyssey LX - $1,163
  6. Jeep Compass Sport 2WD - $1,164
  7. Subaru Outback 2.5i - $1,176
  8. Ford Edge SE 2WD - $1,176
  9. Smart FortwoPure - $1,186
  10. Ford Escape S 2WD - $1,190
Another source list includes the Jeep Cherokee Sport Tour 2WD Turbo among the cheapest vehicles to insure. See the Chart below. jeep-cheapest-vehicles-to-insure
